hi everyone!! these two cuties are loco (black) and bradley! they are looking for a home and would make great additions to any family! loco loves to play and bradley sleeps a lot. they’re middle-aged and really loving.
their dad needs to find them a home because his living situation currently doesn’t allow pets, but is hoping he can get them back if the people do not want Forever Pets. basically, you can foster them! their dad is willing to help pay their costs, and wants to make sure they go to the most loving home possible. if he cannot find somewhere, he will have to take them to a shelter. they live in northern virginia, so if you live in that area it’s even more perfect.
if you can’t adopt or foster them, please reblog this for a signal boost! message me if you’re interested!
Please, please signal boost this! Anyone in DC/Maryland/Virginia consider these kitties!

If you’re vegetarian because you want to help animals, go vegan.
Vegetarianism subsidizes the meat industry and you are not making a positive impact if you support eggs and dairy. The egg and dairy industries are exceptionally cruel and there is no way to justify being an “ethical vegetarian.”
If you’re already avoiding mammal flesh, poultry, and fish (eating fish is not vegetarian) removing eggs and dairy from your diet is simple and healthy and the only way to reduce your contribution to animal suffering.
Here’s a quick info guide on animal exploitation.
Here’s a helpful resource on making the switch to a truly cruelty free lifestyle.
Here’s a resource with information that focuses on the health benefits of a plant based lifestyle.
Go vegan. Live vegan. Stay vegan.

Mercy For Animals is doing a nationwide tour protesting Walmart and gestation crates. They recently released an undercover video from one of Walmart’s pork suppliers. Share the video, attend the protests in your area, and make sure to order your free bumper sticker!
Make sure to check back on the events page as protests are constantly being added as the tour makes its way around the country!

Do not compare animal rights to the rights of oppressed groups of people.
Do not compare animal rights to the rights of oppressed groups of people.
Do not compare animal rights to the rights of oppressed groups of people.
Do not compare animal rights to the rights of oppressed groups of people.stop thinking humans are superior to animals. stop thinking humans are superior to animals. stop thinking humans are superior to animals. stop thinking humans are superior to animals. stop thinking humans are superior to animals. stop thinking humans are superior to animals.
their suffering is also a cause of human suffering. if people cannot treat animals well, how do you expect them to treat their own kind with respect? no. fuck this logic.
To the person of the original post: I will paypal you five dollars if you can explain how animals aren’t as oppressed as human minorities/oppressed groups. The only rule is that you can’t use the line ‘well, it’s different because they’re not people’ or something along those lines. Extra dollar if you can explain how factory farming and animal agriculture isn’t a holocaust/species genocide.
In before they freak out over you calling animal enterprise a holocaust, because they don’t know the difference between a holocaust and the Holocaust.

The Story of the Bluefin—A short animation video about one of the most endangered species on the planet.
I listened to the latest episode of Red Radio at work today, which features an interview with the International Director of The Black Fish, a European-based ocean activism organization. They discuss some of the many problems with the global fishing industry, including a lack of enforcement with existing regulations of fishing practices and a UN study that predicts the complete collapse of fish populations by 2048 if current fishing practices are maintained.

This incredible photo marks the end of Matador Torero Alvaro Munera’s career. He collapsed in remorse mid-fight when he realized he was having to prompt this otherwise gentle beast to fight. He went on to become an avid opponent of bullfights. Even grievously wounded by picadors, he did not attack this man.
Torrero Munera is quoted as saying of this moment: “And suddenly, I looked at the bull. He had this innocence that all animals have in their eyes, and he looked at me with this pleading. It was like a cry for justice, deep down inside of me. I describe it as being like a prayer - because if one confesses, it is hoped, that one is forgiven. I felt like the worst shit on earth.”
Stories like this or of factory farm workers turned vegan or former seaworld workers turned anti-captivity activists give me small glimmers of hope in people.

Chickens are grossly misunderstood and abused. I’ve had chickens as pets since I was 7, and they’re really wonderful birds. This post is for them:
1⃣ A hen can live up to 20 years. She will lay eggs her entire life, with the number decreasing every year from year one.
2⃣ It takes a hen 24-26 hours to lay an egg. They can lay up to 60 eggs a year. However, factory farm egg laying hens are mutated to lay eggs every day. Since male chicks cannot lay eggs, they are thrown into the grinder. Over 200 million male chicks are killed every year. However females aren’t given much time either. They’re only given 72 days to live.
3⃣ A chicken finds it very important to have a private nest. She builds her nest by first scratching a hole in the ground. She will then pick up twigs and leaves, which she will drop on her back. Back in the hole she will let the material slide off her back around the rim. Take your average 8.5 by 11 sized printer paper. Now fold it in half. That’s about as much room as an egg laying hen will ever get.
4⃣ Eggs are essentially a hen’s period. They must be fertilized by a rooster in order to reproduce. It takes a chick 21 days to develop in the egg.
5⃣ A mother hen begins bonding with her chicks before they are even born. She will turn her egg as often as five times an hour and cluck to her unborn chicks, who will chirp back to her and to one another.
6⃣ Chickens are very social animals. They will fight to protect their family and will mourn when a loved one is lost. Chickens have complex social structures know as “pecking orders.” Every chicken knows his or her place on the social ladder. Due to their pecking, egg laying hens kept in battery cages will be “debeaked” around 5 weeks of age.
7⃣ Chickens have a great memory and can distinguish between more than 100 faces of their own species.
8⃣ Chicken language has real meaning. The birds give different alarm calls depending on which type of predator is threatening them. 🐔🐤
Chicks before dicks! #vegansofig
